This offer includes free shipping and ends on May 12. If you haven't tried Mary Kay products lately, you owe it to yourself to do so. The new mineral products are fabuloso!!!! And the skin care is really great, too. Anyway, just go to my site at www.marykay.com/kbaxter and put "blog party" in the comments box so I can give you the discount. I hope to see you all there!

In other Mary Kay news, here are my party invites I made:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SCL9cyyVZ9I/AAAAAAAAAM8/6SvzGEY0bqo/s400/invite.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197995591050029010" />
They turned out cute...especially the little bling on the crown tips! I need to finish the rest of them today and get them mailed out tomorrow. I finally made it to the cake decorating store yesterday and got a #805 tip that I've been wanting forever. I plan on making Billy's vanilla vanilla cuppies and using pink sprinkles. It's been awhile since I've planned for a party so this is kind of fun! :)

Oh, I got the cutest, most adorable pin toppers from Gigi at Pinks & Needles. You definitely need to check out her Etsy shop here Pinks & Needles . Here are the two that I bought:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SCL_4iyVaAI/AAAAAAAAANU/78EXyeubV-o/s400/lovebird.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197998266814654466" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SCL_uCyVZ-I/AAAAAAAAANE/MlbQlA2E9bI/s400/mushrooms.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197998086426028002" />
I love them...thanks Gigi!Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-69423736157227907752008-05-01T08:23:00.002-05:002008-05-01T06:14:59.671-05:00Takin' it backSo Miss Jessi of Scrappy Jessi has organized a "Favorite Childhood Toy Party"! I don't have any of my childhood photos here with me but I found quite a few old favs online. So let's begin...

Get In Shape Girl. I remember wearing the sweatband and leg warmers and jumping rope.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBh07vNbOdI/AAAAAAAAALc/YkOxVU8gWvk/s400/getinshapegirl.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195030739805747666" />

Garbage Pail Kids. I had stacks of these things. They were so gross! And I used to chew the rock hard stick of gum that came in the packs. That's even grosser! lol
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBh1a_NbOeI/AAAAAAAAALk/MpmqephtbBM/s400/garbagepailkids.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195031276676659682" />

I loved that could make my Moncchichi suck his thumb! I sucked my thumb til I was 5 (finally broke that habit when the school nurse told me I could get buck teeth if I didn't quit).
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBh1-vNbOfI/AAAAAAAAALs/xqY-FV1atfE/s400/monchichi.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195031890856983026" />

Baby Alive. Do yall remember this one? She came with these little packets of food that were this colored powder that you mixed with water. Then you would feed this stuff to her. A bit later she would, ahem...pee and/or poop this stuff out into her diaper. And that's not the end of it. This "food" was red, green and yellow. So that was the color of her "movements"! lol
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBh2sPNbOgI/AAAAAAAAAL0/JFtej7hEawE/s400/baby+alive.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195032672541030914" />

Oh! Poochie! I loved her! She was so pretty! I had the Poochie doll, a stamp, stationary and stickers. The paper was pink and the stamp was purple. It all came in the hard pink case. I think it was heart shaped.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBh3JvNbOhI/AAAAAAAAAL8/n1OItJ42cbg/s400/poochie.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195033179347171858" />

Pound puppies. I had a few of these. I liked how they just kind of laid there all flat and stuff. I remember one of mine was brown and he had long floppy ears.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBh3lvNbOiI/AAAAAAAAAME/KClsaDkeMrA/s400/poundpuppies.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195033660383509026" />

Now the rest of these are cartoons that I watched and had the toys for. First, Rainbow Brite! I had her and her horse and the blue furry guy (can't remember his name). The blue furry guy was my favorite. I used to love to poke on his red nose and make it concave! lol
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBh4MPNbOkI/AAAAAAAAAMU/xNZoisQUKeA/s400/horse.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195034321808472642" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBh4FPNbOjI/AAAAAAAAAMM/Px46itfCMSc/s400/rainbowbrite.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195034201549388338" />

Jem and the Holograms. They rocked. I actually like The Misfits (the bad girl group) better than Jem and her posse. I had the Roxy doll ( a bad girl) and my neighbors had Jem and the yellow hair girl (the lead singer of the Misfits).
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBh4svNbOmI/AAAAAAAAAMk/jYADc4Z3ir0/s400/misfits.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195034880154221154" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBh4o_NbOlI/AAAAAAAAAMc/6LxsOJvBEaM/s400/jemandtheholograms.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195034815729711698" />

Ahh, Fraggle Rock! I really loved this show. Remember those little things would work so hard to build the city under the ground and then somebody would take a big bite of it? My mmory is really fuzzy on this one. My favs were Wimbly and Red. And who was the big guy who liked the Fraggles (would he talk to them at a well???) but his parents would freak when they saw a Fraggle? Down in Fraggle Rock! clap clap
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBh5TvNbOnI/AAAAAAAAAMs/ORemEXuHz5A/s400/fragglerock.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195035550169119346" />

And the lst one for the day. Gummi Bears. Gummi bears, bouncing here and there and everywhere! They would drink the gummi berry juice and then start bouncing real high.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBh5uvNbOoI/AAAAAAAAAM0/YrxK_U_uI7w/s400/gummibears.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195036014025587330" />

Thanks for coming down memory lane with me. It makes me wonder toys my son will be reminiscing about when he's 30. That was fun!Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-67740979083058019262008-04-29T09:05:00.005-05:002008-04-29T09:26:50.333-05:00She's CraftyRemember that Beastie Boys song? She's craf-tay (that's me singing). Except I don't think they meant crafty as in making cute crafts. And that's the kind of crafty I'm talking about. I'm feeling crafty again! Yay! I'm so excited. lol I haven't had the desire to create anything in a long time. Months. But now it's back. I signed up with Mary Kay and I'm having my "debut" party in May. I've decided to make all the invitations, centerpieces, treats and favors myself. I want everything to be pink and super froo-froo girly. The theme will be a pampering party for our inner "princesses". Each lady will get her very own rice crispy princess wand! lol I was inspired by Dena over at Sugar Shop (link in my sidebar). She made these adorable rice crispy lollipops with sprinkles. I plan on making some that are star shaped and on long dowels rather than lollipop sticks. Oh, and mine will have pink sprinkles and a pretty ribbon around the stick. Here's a picture of Dena's:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBcsn_NbObI/AAAAAAAAALM/aOQh6EFrFyA/s400/lollipops.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194669760689420722" />
Aren't they so stinkin' cute? Love them!

I've also been totally inspired by Heather Bailey (once again, link over in my sidebar). She has a tutorial on her blog for these awesome paper globes. I've made one and plan on making a couple others for centerpieces. Here's a picture of the ones from Heather's tutorial:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/SBcvR_NbOcI/AAAAAAAAALU/YenFG1j3et8/s400/paper+globes.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194672681267182018" />

So anyway, as I get stuff made I'll take pictures and post them. I'm going to put together a rough draft invitation today. I'm thinking a pink font with sheer black ribbon with white polka dots. Hmmm...maybe a little princess crown with some bling. We'll see!Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-67424885903745875202008-04-24T10:03:00.002-05:002008-04-24T10:13:34.586-05:00I'm back, babies!I think! ;) Life has been unbelievably hectic. So super busy. I really want to make time to keep up with my blog. We'll see how it goes. So, let's see...I took real estate courses but never took my test. I decided not to even mess with real estate right now with the market the way it is. I can look into later if I want. I did start working, though. I'm an Independent Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay now! I'm really excited about it. I've never been a big fan of the product until I tried it recently. I love it now! Truly. Anyway, if any of you want samples to try things, just let me know. I'll mail some to you. My husband started a new job a couple months ago and really loves it. He's happy so that makes me happy! lol Cade is doing wonderful. He's jus making so much progress. We've been hitting the supplements pretty hard core and this summer I'll tackle the diet issues. His autism will be a fading memory one of these days. He's going to be fully mainstreamed into kindergarten next year. Yay! I also joined the PTO board at his school...I'm 2nd Vice President. I figure if I'm donating my time to help the school then the school better be good to my baby! ;) Oh, and listen to this...I just got an email from a Christian quarterly magazine. The editor stumbled across this blog and asked me to submit an article for an upcoming issue!!! I am so stoked--I just hope I'm able to please! I haven't done any type of crafting since before we moved home 9 months ago. :( I have no mojo whatsoever. I really want to craft again but I've just been so stinking busy. It's something I need to work on. Anyway, I need to go clean up the house a bit and do some grocery shopping. I'll try to keep up with this blog and I'll try to keep up with all the others that I used to read. I've missed you all!Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-91465099033171508902007-11-13T09:32:00.001-06:002007-11-13T09:50:14.308-06:00Holy cow, it's been almost 3 months!!!3 months since we moved, 3 months since I've posted here, and 3 months since I've crafted! Oh my! I do have a little bit of an excuse, though. I decided to take real estate classes so I could go back to work now that Cade is in school full time. So I finally finished my classes (I haven't taken my test yet) but then I decided that I don't really want to go back to work yet! lol So here I am, with a little time on my hands. I left my mojo back in Phoenix but I'm hoping that making teacher's gifts for Christmas will bring it back. Or maybe I just need to do a little shopping! Anyway, I will try to get back in the swing of things here soon. I'll leave you with a recent picture of Cade...
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RznHol2VOtI/AAAAAAAAAI0/J60ru9w9FeE/s400/smiling+at+Happy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5132352750534081234" />Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-64429357924387744392007-08-19T12:50:00.000-05:002007-08-19T13:03:51.738-05:00We're here finally!We finally made it to Houston late Friday night. It was a loooooonnnng drive. Luckily we made it across the entire state of Texas without running into Tropical Storm Erin. Thank goodness for that. Anyway, it's good to be home. We're still crazy busy getting things unpacked and put into storage and all that jazz. I'll try to remember to take some pictures of the house today so I can post them here. I can't wait til everything slows down again and I can get caught up with everyone else's blog! Here's a shot of part of downtown in the evening...I love this place!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RsiF9H3vhOI/AAAAAAAAAIs/yoPRoD8yKnE/s400/skyline.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5100473863128450274" />Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-13287234153870768402007-08-14T05:07:00.000-05:002007-08-14T05:12:43.907-05:00Oh yeah, my first award!I had to post about this real quick. I got my tussie mussie from Heatehr Bluhm yesterday! It is just gorgeous and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what all she included with it! Really, there is so much stuff...pretty stuff. And stuff that I've been wanting but haven't come across yet, like the wish tickets. Thanks so much, Heather!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rr3MSc0MQeI/AAAAAAAAAIE/-pFFnU5PpAE/s400/tm.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5097454970598080994" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rr3Mb80MQfI/AAAAAAAAAIM/dvpHmtmDL0c/s400/goodies.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5097455133806838258" />

You can see the tussie I made for her on her blog here: Heather Bluhm Look at that...I finally figured out how to make a hyperlink! Thanks to Google! lol

Have a good weekend. My mom's flight arrives in 2 1/2 hours so it's time to get busy. I'll update again before we leave. And I plan on photo-documenting our move so we'll see hoe that goes. Okay, take care!Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-8684189501082458052007-08-10T14:30:00.000-05:002007-08-10T14:35:33.059-05:00Today's Motivation for Moms...is a good one. So important, too. It says, "Pray over your children while they are sleeping. With a heart like Hannah, give them over to God." Prayer changes lives, right? So pray over them while they're sleeping. That's such a special time...notice how we all think our kids look like little angels when they're sleeping? Our hearts swell with love for them. It's the perfect time to talk to God and tell Him your hopes and dreams for your little one. That's all for today!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rry98c0MQdI/AAAAAAAAAH8/cPaqy9jRaGU/s400/tractor_filtered.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5097157724501459410" />Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-23747823602027175962007-08-08T15:14:00.000-05:002007-08-10T16:53:38.833-05:00Papa's Got a Brand New Bag...(or mama does, actually!)So I've posted before about Lisa from Pink Lemonade Boutique (why oh why can I not figure out how to make links on these posts???) I think she makes the most fabulous bags ever and she's totally inspired me to start making bags. Soooo...I tried to copy one of her bags last night. Don't worry, it's only for personal use! ;) Anyway, I love the way it turned out (even if it is a bit small for my liking). Oh, and check out her blog at www.pinklemonadeboutique.typepad.com, you can totally see how I pretty much copied her design. (And you can see all that yummy goodness she has posted there.) Copying is the most sincere form of flattery!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RrolhM0MQbI/AAAAAAAAAHs/Lyx3HChoJis/s400/purse.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5096427180629180850" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rrolrs0MQcI/AAAAAAAAAH0/zyH4CMwBRuE/s400/up+close.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5096427361017807298" />

I LOVE this fabric. It's Nuala, by Jennifer Paganelli. Oh, and I didn't have any magnetic snaps so I ended up sewing in some ribbon to use as a closure. It'll work for now!

In other news, I'm busy making something for Monica and Maria. Remember those beautiful ribbons I posted awhile back that they made for me? Yeah, I never finished theirs so now I'm having to crank some stuff out. After we get together and I give it to them, I'll post pics here.

Ummm, have you ever felt like sleep just gets in the way of your crafting/sewing time? That's me right now. So much to do and so little time. And I'm totally putting off packing! lol

Have a good one!Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-3564218962582893352007-08-04T14:53:00.000-05:002007-08-04T15:00:50.794-05:00In One Week......my mom will be here to help me pack. I'm nervous. Not about her coming! lol I like when she visits. I'm nervous about moving. AGAIN. We haven't moved that much but it sure feels like it. Let's see, since Jeff was in the military til now, we have lived in 5 different houses. This will be the 6th. Oh, and that's in the past 9 years. So not too bad. But more than I'd like. Anyway, I'm glad my mom will be here to help me pack. And help me clean this place. Then it's a long drive to Texas. Ok. That's enough. Thanks for listening to me whine. I'm done now!

PS--Can't post without adding a picture so here's one of me, Monica (www.monicaanderson.com), and Maria (www.thejunkkdrawer.com) when we had a girl's night a couple weeks ago. I'll miss them. :(
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RrTa4c0MQaI/AAAAAAAAAHk/-5a2E6cOe04/s400/girls1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5094937741805502882" />Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-12160870852174388152007-08-03T11:45:00.000-05:002007-08-03T15:30:13.085-05:00My New Banner!My smart friend who knows tons more about computers then I do made a new banner for me. I love it! Isn't it gorgeous? It's pink and it's cute stuff that I've made. So much fun...thanks Monica!

I also got a swap package in the mail a few days ago from Gigi. Oh my gosh, it was wrapped so stinkin cute that I didn't even want to open it! lol Fun, fun stuff... presentation sure counts for a lot. It was filled with all kinds of great things: bath fizzies that looked like ice cream cones with pink ice cream, adorable cupcake ribbon, a homemade notebook, notecards and a super cute altered matchbox full of pretty bulldog clips. Thanks so much Gigi!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RrNdAc0MQSI/AAAAAAAAAGk/-GkighILb0w/s400/IMG_2594.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5094517865802645794" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RrNdKs0MQUI/AAAAAAAAAG0/YRf2qqntJ_U/s400/IMG_2595.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5094518041896304962" />

So I've been sewing again lately. I think that's my new fav craft. I've made a couple of aprons that I need to photograph and post on here. I appliqued for the first time and that turned out kind of cute! Yesterday I went to Monica's house and showed her daughter how to make an apron. She did so good--it turned out adorable!! I was really impressed how well she did for her first time sewing an apron. Good job, Britni! I haven't scrapbooked, which was my first crafting passion, in such a long time. I don't want to stop documenting our lives but I'm just too consumed with other tcreative endeavors right now. Things tend to come and go in huge spurts for me so I'm assuming I'll eventually start scrapping again. It would be nice if I could find balance with all the things I like to do!

Cade's upstairs playing with Miss Rachael (his therapist) so I really should get off of here and finish cleaning. That way we can head out to the grocery store after lunch. As Cade would say...TTFN, ta ta for now! :)Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-41614679537810085902007-07-31T13:41:00.000-05:002007-07-31T14:12:00.955-05:00Swaps and a tussieToday started with a trip to the eye doctor. I ripped one of my contacts and without them I'm as blind as a bat. Seriously. I drove there myself this morning (not such a bright idea, I know) and everything was a big grey blur. I had an eye exam and I'm happy to report that as bad as my vision is, it hasn't gotten any worse. They hooked me up with some new contacts and I can see again! I was driving home in awe of all the bright colors outside! lol I plan on getting Lasik one day. Or whatever it is that'll make my eyes good again.

I've been joining quite a few swaps lately. So much fun! I shipped off a finished tussie mussie to Heather Bluhm (yes, THE talented Heather Bluhm!) today. I can't wait to see what she has made for me...I'm sure it'll be gorgeous! I think my package is filled with fun stuff so I hope she likes it. Once she receives it I'll post a pic on here but for now I'll just give a little sneek peek...

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rq-Dtc0MQGI/AAAAAAAAAFE/Ms7cah6Dl8A/s400/tm+sneek+peek+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5093434520431771746" />

I'm in a couple of swaps on swap-bot, too. I shipped one off today and have another one that's not due til mid September. It's a fabric swap so it should be lots of fun! I love getting mail. As a matter of fact, I got a piece of mail art the other day from Tia (Miz Smoochie Lips). That was a fun surprise! Check this thing out:

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rq-Fm80MQHI/AAAAAAAAAFM/qUefa1gqWoI/s400/mail+art.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5093436607785877618" />

Oh how i wish i had legs like that Hawaiin chick! lol I love this...it definitely makes me want to alter a bingo card. Maybe I'll do that today. Here's another little thing I did the other day. I was bored and I needed a pink and aqua fix so I threw this together. It's just a painted canvas topped with a giant accordian fold flower.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rq-IJc0MQII/AAAAAAAAAFU/eCv7tAwkXyc/s400/canvas.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5093439399514620034" />

Hey, have any of you seen this person? http://www.flickr.com/photos/7636984@N03/ She goes by pinklemonadeboutique and she makes fabulous purses. I love them! I really enjoy sewing and would love to make some bags like these but I have no clue where to begin. Here are a few bags she's made that I absolutely adore. One day I'll figure out how to make these! lol

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rq-JaM0MQMI/AAAAAAAAAF0/Fq3i4xqwk9M/s400/bag4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5093440786789056706" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rq-JWc0MQLI/AAAAAAAAAFs/QpOLDrCANtA/s400/bag3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5093440722364547250" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rq-JSc0MQKI/AAAAAAAAAFk/YVvrL-ozzZY/s400/bag2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5093440653645070498" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rq-JM80MQJI/AAAAAAAAAFc/gJyekB1EbYo/s400/bag1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5093440559155789970" />Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-66434791777500606932007-07-25T09:31:00.000-05:002007-07-25T09:38:12.086-05:00Pump pump pump, pump it up!Wasn't that a song?! Anyway, Cade gets to go to Pump it Up this morning for his friend's birthday. I'm excited about this because it should just wear him right out! lol Maybe. He has enough energy to last for days. Hopefully I'll be able to get some cute photos. I think I may try to hit a couple of thrift stores afterward. I'm going through "really fab finds" withdrawals! Gotta go get ready. I'll leave you with picture of Cade. Imagine these cheeks all flushed and the hair all sweaty. That's what he'll look like in about 3 hours!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RqdgRc0MQFI/AAAAAAAAAE8/4luOQD4xy2Q/s400/IMG_2109.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5091143756674777170" />Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-22990245963050243332007-07-24T12:15:00.000-05:002007-07-24T12:34:56.684-05:00My ribbons and a near drowningWe'll start with the yucky stuff to get it out of the way. Sunday we went to a friend's house and went swimming. Cade wanted to go down the rock slide so he put on his arm floaties and went. I waited at the bottom to make sure he was alright. (Note--it was deep...I couldn't touch the bottom.) Anyway, he came down, went under but then popped right back up because of the floaties. He looked a little worried and was calling for me so I had this lame brained idea to hold him so that he would feel safe and then I would swim back with him to where we could both reach the bottom. Yeah. He freaked and pulled my hair and climbed on top of my head. :( I couldn't get my head above water. Finally I got up for a second and yelled for help. Someone swam over and grabbed him and I was able to catch my breath. It was so scray; I really thought I was going to drown. My chest hurt so bad from holding my breath and fighting for air. Ugh. But praise God we're all still alive and fine!

So on to better things, prettier things. I think I have the most talented friends! I'm doing a ribbon swap with 2 friends before I move. They already gave me the ones they made for me...I need to get busy on theirs! Really, these things are gorgeous. No pressure for me to crank out some fab ribbons, right?! lol The first one is from Maria (www.the junkkdrawer.blogspot.com) and the second is from Monica (www.monicaanderson.blogspot.com)

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RqY2ss0MP_I/AAAAAAAAAEM/PS-4cvOsc7M/s400/maria+ribbon+1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5090816570361135090" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RqY2ys0MQAI/AAAAAAAAAEU/Lt9bjzAEYZM/s400/maria+ribbon+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5090816673440350210" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RqY25s0MQBI/AAAAAAAAAEc/QRkc1UTHWIU/s400/monica+ribbon+1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5090816793699434514" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RqY2_c0MQCI/AAAAAAAAAEk/qYexcY6gt-A/s400/monica+ribbon+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5090816892483682338" />

Aren't they absolutely gorgeous? I'm very lucky!

I altered a barn star awhile back. When we move I plan on putting it in Cade's room. I just need to figure out how to incorporate it without it looking to baby-ish. Cause you know it just ain't cool to be baby-ish when you're 5...and a half! lol I think altered barn stars would be nice in a bathroom as well. Hmmm...something to think about making soon. There pretty quick to make, too.

Alright, that's it for today. Have a good one!Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-74657555431625150162007-07-19T11:30:00.000-05:002007-07-19T11:33:47.410-05:00Tussie Mussie Swap updateOver 40 people have signed up already! Today's Motivation for Moms says "Give time to your children each day. The time you give makes the words you speak of more value to them." So true. So today I spent lots of time playing trains with Cade. Well, he didn't let me actually play. More like he directed and I did as told! He thinks it's great when I put "obstacles" on the train tracks. Then he makes the trains run them over. I get to sit and watch and then laugh with him when his trains succeed. That's what it's all about, right? Laughing together. Plus he's cute. And cute kids always get their way!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RpxBn9h35XI/AAAAAAAAADk/i-4PvRCnWMg/s400/zoo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5088013833809159538" />
Told you he was cute! :)

So, the happiness part. It's been rough for the past month. My childhood friend died a tragic, senseless, stupid death. And then we decided to move. I'm very excited to move...I just don't look forward to all the yuckiness that comes with it. The packing and driving and getting settled in and finding a school for Cade and finding therapy and Jeff finding a new job. Ugh. But...and that's a big but...it will be so worth it! Anyway, today was a typical Monday, kind of boring. I did do a couple of things that made me happy. I finished sewing my last apron. I think it turned out cute but it was obviously made without a pattern. I just free-handed it so it isn't very professional looking. I think my next sewing project will be pajama pants. Just trying to decide if I should buy a pattern or if I should just deconstruct a pair that I already have and use them to make a pattern. I also took pictures of my accordian fold "happiness" flowers. They're way cute!

Time to go hang with the hubby. My husband and I have decided to move back home to Texas! I'm actually very excited. Texas is where I was born and raised and our family is there. I will, however, miss my good friends here in Arizona. And I'll miss all this sunshine. And the dry weather. I'm not looking forward to the humidity. It's not fun having having your hair plastered to your neck and sweat beading on your upper lip...all within 30 seconds of walking outside. Yeah. And the mosquitoes...not looking forward to those little suckers either! But, I'm definitely looking forward to having *2* grandma's nearby who will more than willing to hang out with Cade. That means Jeff and I will actually get to have date nights! And if anyone knows what a date actually consists of these days, please let me know. It's been that long! lol

Soooo...while I've been gone I've been doing a bit of sewing. I've been making aprons as a matter of fact. I've done 4 of them. Although the 4th one is not quite completed. I need to attach the ties and then I'm thinking of trying my hand at applique. After that, I'm taking a break from aprons for a bit. I've joined a couple of swaps so I'll get to work on those for awhile. As a matter of fact, my friend Maria is hosting a Tussie Mussie (mussy tussy?) swap which will be a lot of fun. I'll post all the details sometime tomorrow. For now, here are my aprons...

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rpb_lth35TI/AAAAAAAAADE/nm2FBpuaYU0/s400/apron.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5086533852503467314" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rpb_w9h35UI/AAAAAAAAADM/ImZC7stetTE/s400/apron23.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5086534045776995650" />

<img style="cursor:phttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.photo.gif
Add Imageointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/Rpb_39h35VI/AAAAAAAAADU/05j0X0UGD-Y/s400/lace+apron.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5086534166036079954" />Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-37942030893036096912007-06-04T08:31:00.000-05:002007-06-04T08:51:48.011-05:00I'm BackLast time I posted, I planned on creating a few things and then posting them the next day. At the time, I had no clue I was about to get my butt kicked by some allergies! lol The whole famly got sick and stayed miserable for the better part of an entire week. Things are better now thank goodness!

So anyway, I did get to create a couple of things. And I made it to the fabric store yesterday. That was fun! There were so many beautiful fabrics but I had to practice restraint. I got a few to start with and I'll go back for more once I make something with these. I plan on sewing a couple of aprons, a couple of throw pillows (cushions) and maybe a little tote bag. Look at these pretty things!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RmQVTtenFBI/AAAAAAAAABs/b3iux-wLGow/s400/fabric1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5072202508695704594" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RmQVZ9enFCI/AAAAAAAAAB0/pgVOguHoWuk/s400/fabric2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5072202616069887010" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RmQVgdenFDI/AAAAAAAAAB8/1WEjH7KRktM/s400/fabric3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5072202727739036722" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RmQXwNenFHI/AAAAAAAAACc/Z2MRvq5hQ0o/s400/fatquarters.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5072205197345231986" />

So last week was the official start of summer for my son. It didn't really count though because we didn't do much of anything but lay around. He's back to his normal active self now. I need to come up with some activities for us to do. He's not much of a arts and crafts kind of guy. He does like to participate in everyday activities, like watering plants and frosting cupcakes. Hmmm...

I'll leave you with a couple more pictures. The cone is made from vintage wallpaper that my friend Maria gave me.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RmQX29enFII/AAAAAAAAACk/lah02TI2zI0/s400/cone.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5072205313309348994" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RmQY0NenFLI/AAAAAAAAAC8/rZMiGC6ZVY0/s400/round+flower.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5072206365576336562" />Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-41202096384239490042007-05-29T09:05:00.001-05:002007-05-29T09:11:16.006-05:00Allergies (a Day for Creating)We have allergies. :( My poor baby is sniffing like crazy and his poor little nose is raw. I don't know why it's taking so long for this darn Benedryl to kick in. My throat is super scratchy and I couldn't sleep at all last night which means I'm feeling tired and lazy. Therefore, I'm proclaiming today "craft all day and forget about cleaning day"!

I'm not sure what I want to work on today. I'll probably start on another apron. Maybe sew some more crepe paper for different projects. And oh, I need to use up some of this beautiful wallpaper I have. Any suggestions? I'll take pictures of whatever I work on and post again tomorrow.

PS-My dear childhood friend is very sick and is on life support. I believe God heals. If you get a minute, please say a prayer for Stephanie.Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2319349556460005824.post-85979482507093907312007-05-24T17:52:00.000-05:002007-05-24T18:14:15.687-05:00A Few Junky FindsI got quite a bit this week...lots of ribbon and rick rack, 3 teacup and saucer sets, a cute little teapot, 5 vintage linen tea towels, a basic glass cake stand (so I can display all the cute little cupcakes I plan on making!), and some other stuff. But the funniest thing (well, the most ironic anyway), is a book from 1968 called How to Make Something from Nothing by Ruth Stearns Egge. In the description it says, "...in this easy-to-follow guise to the fine art of junking."

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RlYZotenE7I/AAAAAAAAAA8/b8uhShuq7sk/s400/book_filtered.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5068266617845519282" />

This is such a pretty silver basket. It's badly tarnished but I'm sure it'll be beautiful once I polish it. From what I can gather, it was made in the 50's and it's made by Gorham. Don't you just want to swim in all that pretty crepe paper?!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RlYaddenE8I/AAAAAAAAABE/i_j8MobdIoM/s400/crepe+paper_filtered.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5068267524083618754" />

Here's a clue to what I've been doing the last couple of days...
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RlYaqdenE9I/AAAAAAAAABM/B5JS5D4o1TI/s400/thread_filtered.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5068267747421918162" />
Sewing!! I bought a sewing machine and decided to teach myself. It's really easy so far...I think I'm a natural. Of course, the only thing I've sewn so far is crepe paper! lol I plan on starting an apron today. I love aprons. I put one on and instantly I transform into Betty Crocker/Martha Stuart/Suzy Homemaker. It's kind of fun! :)

I'll leave you with a few more pictures of my finds and also a picture of my adorable little boy who graduated from preschool yesterday!!! He's a big kindergartener now!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RlYbf9enE-I/AAAAAAAAABU/ajRoXHKT08Q/s400/teacup_filtered.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5068268666544919522" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pzox4MG6v6U/RlYbltenE_I/AAAAAAAAABc/DCxc0vBO3mM/s400/transferware.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5068268765329167346" />
(My good friend found this lovely transferware teacup and saucer for me. And I don't have enough patience to figure things out. I want a pretty banner like everyone else has. Monica said we can make our own using MS Picture It. I got the program opened and then didn't know where to go from there! lol Maybe I'll google it. Anyway, I have more to post about but I'll wait til tomorrow...one thing at a time!Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250646887030288782noreply@blogger.com1
