A Few Junky Finds

I got quite a bit this week...lots of ribbon and rick rack, 3 teacup and saucer sets, a cute little teapot, 5 vintage linen tea towels, a basic glass cake stand (so I can display all the cute little cupcakes I plan on making!), and some other stuff. But the funniest thing (well, the most ironic anyway), is a book from 1968 called How to Make Something from Nothing by Ruth Stearns Egge. In the description it says, "...in this easy-to-follow guise to the fine art of junking."

This is such a pretty silver basket. It's badly tarnished but I'm sure it'll be beautiful once I polish it. From what I can gather, it was made in the 50's and it's made by Gorham. Don't you just want to swim in all that pretty crepe paper?!

Here's a clue to what I've been doing the last couple of days...

Sewing!! I bought a sewing machine and decided to teach myself. It's really easy so far...I think I'm a natural. Of course, the only thing I've sewn so far is crepe paper! lol I plan on starting an apron today. I love aprons. I put one on and instantly I transform into Betty Crocker/Martha Stuart/Suzy Homemaker. It's kind of fun! :)

I'll leave you with a few more pictures of my finds and also a picture of my adorable little boy who graduated from preschool yesterday!!! He's a big kindergartener now!

(My good friend found this lovely transferware teacup and saucer for me. It's by J&G Meakin and the pattern is Royal Staffordshire Stratford Stage. Love it!)

You found some great stuff!
I love cake plates and tea cups.

I taught myself how to sew, too.
My mom gave me her old turquoise 1960's Kenmore sewing machine and I just started simple...pillows, totes, curtain panels. Then moved up to slipcovers. I'm just now getting into clothes.

The learning never ends! :)
